Dermal fillers such as juvederm, belotero, etc. can be used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, enhance the cheeks or lips, reshape or contour the face and rejuvenate the face, hands or decolletage areas as well as reduce the appearance of scars.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, smooth acne scars, add volume to the face and enhance the lips. They can also be used to rejuvenate the hands and decolletage area.

Dermal fillers such as the juvederm and belotero range of products consist of a clear solution of hyaluronic acid that is injected into the skin or the lip area. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the skin and to make the procedure more comfortable, some of the products also contain a local anaesthetic called 'lidocaine'.

After consultation, the treatment session takes around 15 minutes and there may be small red marks and some swelling where the needle has been inserted into the skin. For most people this will gradually settle down within a day or two. A few people will experience bruising which will resolve naturally over a period of one to two weeks. On extremely rare occasions some people can experience an aillergic reaction

When treatment is complete, it is important to remain in an upright position and avoid touching the area. Make-up, if required, can be applied after a few hours.

The effects of treatment can last four to six months or sometimes longer and treatments can be repeated, as required, to achieve the desired results.

To find out your treatment options and if the treatment is suitable for you, please make an appointment for a consultation to discuss your medical history and expectations.
